What exactly is a business account for a GmbH?

What documents do I need to open a Qonto account for my GmbH?

To open a business account with Qonto, you need the following information: legal name; type of company (legal form); registration date; your Handelregisternummer (trade register number); your Handelsregisterauszug (trade register excerpt); your VAT number (optional). Additionally, for identification purposes we’ll need you to perform a video identification test via our partner, IDnow, where a consultant will check your identification documents online in real-time.

Do I need to open a business account for my GmbH?

For most entrepreneurs it makes sense to open a business account for their company, if only to keep personal and business finances separate. Not only does it prevent any misattributions of funds, but come tax declaration time it makes it that much easier to outline your business’ financial activity, as well as provide justification when necessary. However, if you’re looking to or have already set up a GmbH, there is a legal obligation to open an associated business account for it.

When signing up for Qonto, how does the transition from “In Foundation” to ” Foundation of a limited liability company” affect my account?

If you open a Qonto account for a GmbH in foundation or UG in foundation, you have 10 weeks time to send us your Handelsregisterauszug (trade register excerpt). Once you have received your Handelsregisterauszug (trade register excerpt), please upload your it to your Qonto account. We will check the it as soon as possible and activate your account so that you have a fully usable online business account.
