What exactly is a business account for a GbR?

Do I need to open a business account for my GbR?

For most entrepreneurs it makes sense to open a business account for their company, if only to keep personal and business finances separate. Not only does it prevent any misattributions of funds, but come tax declaration time it’s that much easier to outline your business’ financial activity, as well as provide justification when necessary. If you’re looking to or have already set up a GbR, there is no legal obligation to open an associated business account. However, we highly recommend opening a business bank account to make the process of keeping your bookkeeping in order easier for you.

What kind of documents do I need to open an account for my GbR?

To open a business account with Qonto, you need the following information: legal name; type of company (legal form); registration date; your Steuernummer; type of business activity; industry; partnership agreement or trade license; Additionally, for identification purposes we’ll need you to perform a video identification test via our partner, IDnow, where a consultant will check your identification documents online in real-time.
